Hotel Or Luxury Apartment For A Visit To London?

If you are going to visit London, you may have considered looking at luxury London apartments for rent rather than staying in a hotel. This may, or may not, be a good idea.

If you want a holiday where absolutely everything is done for you, then staying in one of the top London hotels would be your best bet, because everything IS done for you. All you need to do is get up in the morning, shower or bath, get dressed, and that’s it. You are on your way for the day. Down to the restaurant for breakfast, and you’re off.

You need your laundry done? The hotel will do it. Want drinks brought to your room? Certainly. You never have to lift a finger.

However, as you might imagine, all this does come at a price. Whatever you may say about them and however good they may be, it cannot be denied that London hotels are expensive. When you look at some of the charges, and things like bar prices, many people would define them as outrageous, but if you want to be mollycoddled then that is the price that you have to pay.

However, even at those sorts of prices, hotels do have some disadvantages compared with luxury apartments, not the least of which is the amount of space you have. In a hotel room you have just your room and a bathroom, and they are often quite small. After all, the more rooms a hotel can get into the building the more they have to sell and the more money they take.

In a luxury apartment you will find that these have often been built for people who were going to live in them themselves, and often for many years, before they came on to the letting market. Or they may have been a big Victorian family home before being converted into flats. So you will get a lot more space than a hotel room. Plenty of cupboard space to store all your stuff.

You also have your own kitchen, so you can cook whatever you want, and you can eat when you wish, too, rather than being stuck with hotel restaurant times. In most apartments you will have high speed broadband, one or more TV’s, and laundry facilities so that you can wash your own clothes.

You may also have a maid service, so that is the same as a hotel, and some apartments have a concierge and security service as well. Some even come with a parking space. Of course, if you don’t want to cook dinner one evening there is a huge choice of restaurants in central London. The other thing that you get with an apartment is privacy. It’s your own home for the length of your stay, so that may be an important consideration as well.
